Jim Allard is a candidate for the New Hampshire House for Merrimack County’s District 13. In his own words:
"I am running as an Independent candidate this time because I believe most of New Hampshire’s voters think of themselves that way, and because I believe partisan gridlock is failing us in profound ways.
The needs of our District outweigh the edicts of party bosses and the influences of outside political action committees.
I am committed to the idea that members of the legislature serve the people of their district, not any political ideology. I am conservative by nature but reject dogma in favor of problem solving for the benefit of our residents.
Now is the time for experienced leadership under the State House dome."
He believes we must reform education funding, facilitate economic development—including opportunities for young people, resist tax increases, and become better stewards of our resources.
He believes we need real work on the cost and availability of housing in our state, personnel shortages among first responders, and cost-effective infrastructure replacement or repair.
Jim served in the House, representing Pittsfield and Epsom from 2018-2022, and held seats on the Education Committee, Public Works and Highways, and the Fish and Game Committee.
Since 2016 he has also served on Pittsfield’s Select Board, with five years as chairman.
Jim is a New Hampshire native, educated at UNH, Boston University, and Southern New Hampshire University.
After graduating from UNH, he entered the Army and remained on active duty for 31 years, retiring in 2004. From 2006-2013 he worked as a Department of the Army civilian.
Retiring a second time, he and his wife, Gail came home to New Hampshire to be close to family, friends and all that the Granite State offers.
